Airfix A04204V Bismarck – 1:600 Scale Model

Airfix is a British model making company that have been producing injection-moulded plastic scale model kits since 1939. Airfix model kits are so popular in the UK that the brand has become synonymous with plastic model kits. Their range includes cars, naval vessels, aircraft and trains, and they are particularly well known for their range of military models, particularly WW2-era models.

The German battleship Bismark was one of two Bismark-class battleships reconstructed by the German Navy during the Second World War. The ship entered into an engagement with two British vessels, resulting in the sinking of the British battlecruiser, HMS Hood. This prompted a strong response from the Allied forces, with the Royal Navy sending dozens of warships after the Bismark. A few days later, the vessel was critical hit by torpedoes deployed by bombers from a British carrier. The next morning, two British battleships and two heavy cruisers caught up with the Bismark and she was heavily damaged in the engagement – forcing her crew to scuttle her.

This lovely 170 piece Airfix model of the Bismark is an intermediate model kit which is great for adults or kids with a bit of help. The kit comes with spruces and decals, but you’ll have to buy glue and paints seperately. The final model sits at 45.7 x 12.7 x 5.1cm and makes a great gift for model makers and naval history enthusiasts alike.
