Airfix Quickbuild J6040 F-35B Lightning II

Airfix is a British model making company that have been producing injection-moulded plastic scale model kits since 1939. Airfix model kits are so popular in the UK that the brand has become synonymous with plastic model kits. Their range includes cars, naval vessels, aircraft and trains, and they are particularly well known for their range of military models, particularly WW2-era models.

The F-35 Lightning II is a family of US single-seat supersonic fighters first introduced in 2015. The F-35B is a short take-off and vertical landing (STOVL) variant of the Lightning II. Similar in size to the F-35A, about a third of the fuel capacity is sacrificed to accommodate the lift fan.

This lovely little starter model kit of the F-35B Lightning II from Airfix is great for beginners, coming in 38 parts. Airfix’s Quickbuild collection are great for younger model builders as the pieces simply click together like Lego blocks, so no gluing is required and the pieces are all coloured so the finished model doesn’t need to be painted. A great, low-cost gift for kids or adults with an interest in aviation.
