Airfix is a British model making company that have been producing injection-moulded plastic scale model kits since 1939. Airfix model kits are so popular in the UK that the brand has become synonymous with plastic model kits. Their range includes cars, naval vessels, aircraft and trains, and they are particularly well known for their range of military models, particularly WW2-era models.

The Junkers Ju87 known as the ‘Stuka’ was a German dive bomber and ground-attack aircraft deployed during the Second World War. The Stuka were famously equipped with mounted air sirens, ‘Lärmgerät’, which were used as a propeganda device to inspire fear in their targets. While the Stuka were a fearsome foe, during the Battle of Britain their lack of manoeuvrability, speed or defensive weaponry meant they suffered at the hands of RAF fighters.

This wonderful 1:72 scale model of the Junkers Ju87 ‘Stuka’ from Airfix is a great model kit for beginners who are looking for a bit of a challenge. With 110 plastic pieces to assemble, it’s not as complicated as other kits and that makes it a good kit for adults and kids just starting out with model making. Painting and glue isn’t included and can be bought seperately, although the decals for 2 different scheme options are included. The final model sits at 27.9 x 17.8 x 5.1cm.
