Metal Earth Mars Rover ‘Perseverance’ & Helicopter ‘Ingenuity’

Metal Earth produces a large number of licensed and classic metal model kits. Each kit comes with a few flat sheets of metal pieces that can be pressed out and assembled by following the simple instructions, resulting in a wonderful little steel model.

Perseverance is a Mars rover designed to explore the Jezero crater as part of NASA’s Mars 2020 mission and successfully landed on Mars on Feb 18th 2021. Similar in design to its predecesor, Curiosity, the rover carries seven primary payload instruments, ninteen cameras and two microphones. Accompanying Perseverance was Ingenuity (‘Ginny’), an autonomous helicopter designed to operate alongside the rover and was the first aircraft to conduct a powered and controlled extraterrestial flight.

This advanced metal model kit of Perseverance and Ingenuity comes with 238 metal pieces, so definitely aimed at more skilled model builders. The laser etched parts are coloured and detailed, so no painting is required after completion, and the metal parts slot together so no glue is needed either. Some of the parts are fairly small and intricate so some care and a steady hand is required when assembling the models (and use of tweezers or flat nose pliers). The 1:30 scale models sit at 12.5 L x 8.99 W x 7.49 H cm (rover) and 2.59 L x 3.3 W x 2 H cm (helicopter) when complete and make a great gift for model builders and space enthusiasts.
