Tamiya Spitfire Mk.Vb – 1:48 Scale Model

Tamiya are a Japanese manufacturer of plastic model kits, including ships and a wide range of military vehicles. The company has gained a reputation of producing incredibly detailed models, making the brand very popular in the model building community.

The Spitfire Mk.V was developed in 1940 as a stopgap measure between the Mk.IV and upcoming Mk.VI (which would take longer to develop) and was essentially a Spitfire Mk.I with a superior Merlin 45 series engine. The Mk.Vb variant became the main production version of the Mark Vs and was constantly being modified throughout its production – everything from better cockpit hoods to bullet resistant panels were added.

This detailed 1:48 model of the Spitfire Mx.Vb from Tamiya is a lovely addition to any avid model builder’s collection. The model kit comes with 50 pieces and fully assembled sits at 18.8 x 23.4 x 8cm and is aimed at intermediate difficulty model builders. As with most plastic models, gluing is required to assembled the pieces, which can then be painted when complete (glue and paint not included).
