Piececool Pirate Ship ‘The Flying Dutchman’

Piececool metal model kits are a wonderful challenge for model builders who enjoy piecing together models but would rather not have to worry about gluing pieces or painting the final model. Each Piececool model comes with flat stainless steel metal sheets from which the metal parts of the model can be pressed out.

It’s worth noting that some of the pieces are very small and intricate, so some care and at times, a steady hand is required to press them out from the sheet and fold their tabs in order to piece them together. It’s recommended that the Piececool tool set is purchased along with the model, or any flat nose pliers would do.

The Flying Dutchman was a mythical 18th century ghost ship which was allegedly doomed to sail the seas forever and never able to make port. It was rumoured if another vessel made contact with the Flying Dutchman, the ghostly crew would try to pass on messages to take to long-lost loved ones on the land. With reports of sightings for centuries, The Flying Dutchman has sailed its way into modern culture through ghostly appearances in film, TV, comics and other media. The vessel featured in two of the Pirates of the Carribean films, captained by Davy Jones.

This wonderfully detailed model of the The Flying Dutchman from Piececool is a great gift for adults, but will take some skill to complete. The stainless steel parts are small and intricate, but have been laser etched with colour and detail, so no painting is required. The parts fit together without the need for glue, but you get cutting tools included with the set. The final model sits at 22 x 18.5 x 5.5 cm.
