The Fairey Gannet was a British carrier-borne aircraft developed for the Royal Navy in 1953, developed for anti-submarine warfare. The Fairey Gannet was typically operated by a crew of three – a pilot and two observers, and could be equipped with various munitions such as depth charges, torpedoes, bombs and mines. The dual-engine design meant the pilot could shut down one engine during long flights to conserve fuel, but the crew still had the reassurance of both engines when needed.
