Airfix A04065 de Havilland Mosquito PR.XVI – 1:72 Scale Kit

Airfix is a British model making company that have been producing injection-moulded plastic scale model kits since 1939. Airfix model kits are so popular in the UK that the brand has become synonymous with plastic model kits. Their range includes cars, naval vessels, aircraft and trains, and they are particularly well known for their range of military models, particularly WW2-era models.

The de Havilland Mosquito is a British twin-engined mulitrole aircraft deployed during the Second World War. Its unique frame made from mostly wood led to the nickname, the “Wooden Wonder” and made it one of the fastest operational aircraft in the world. Originally intended to operate as an unarmed bomber, it’s superior flight speed it could outpace even fighter aircraft of the day. Throughout the Second World War it was used in both daytime and nighttime bombing and reconnaissance roles, as well as being deployed as a fighter-bomber or to transport valuable cargo through enemy airspace.

This lovely little 1:72 scale model kit of the de Havilland Mosquito from Airfix is a great kit for beginners and more experienced model builders alike. The 1:72 scale means a smaller model with simpler construction and although this model kit comes with 142 parts, it’s suitable for beginners although some care and attention is required when constructing it. As with most Airfix models, no glue or paint is required so these must be bought seperately. A great little gift for aviation and history enthusiasts!
